Notes on aftercare
I use Saniderm for the healing of most of my tattoos.
After I apply the bandage I recommend keeping it on for 3-5 days.
Fluid will build up beneath the bandage – this is normal and not cause for alarm.
When you remove the bandage, please do it in the shower under warm running water, and peel it gently from the edges. Once the bandage is off, wash the tattoo with warm water and unscented, liquid soap. I use Dr. Bronner’s UNSCENTED Pure-Castile Liquid Soap. Pat it dry with a clean towel and then use a small amount of unscented lotion (I use Lubriderm) as needed for the next few days. Peeling, flaking, and scabbing are all a normal part of the tattoo healing process, but PLEASE do not PICK or SCRATCH at your tattoo while it is healing. This can cause a loss of pigment and keep the tattoo from healing correctly. You can shower and live your life normally with the Saniderm on, as well as once it’s been removed, but remember to NEVER soak a new tattoo- this means absolutely NO swimming, baths, hot tubs etc.
If you ever have any questions about your healing tattoo please feel free to call the shop at (804) 780-2769. And remember- less is more!
